Upcoming events for 2008

16th – 18th June 2008   Conference: Amphora has been invited to speak at IQPC’s IP Protection Strategies in Frankfurt, and will be presenting a talk on “Harnessing your scientists in an electronic world” which will answer many questions that we encounter during implementations!
 
15th – 17th Sept. 2008   Conference: IQPC, Lab Solutions in Brussels. Amphora will be a Session Sponsor of this well established annual event. Simon will be addressing the subject of “Walking the tightrope between scientists and lawyers” which is a subject close to his heart.

15th & 16th April 2008   Conference: Simon Coles attended BioTrinity in Oxford, England, which was particularly aimed at emerging Biotechs and BioPharmas and presented a talk on “I.T and I.P in Biotechs”
 
31st March-2nd April 2008   Conference: Simon Coles presented a talk on “Chemist vs. Biologist and their needs for Electronic Solutions” at the the IQPC Lab Informatics Conference in California, the slides for which can be downloaded from here.
 
10th-12th March 2008   Conference: Simon Coles was asked to host a workshop at the IQPC ELN Conference in Frankfurt with Colin Sandercock, a partner in the US Law Firm Proskauer Rose US on the subject of “Ensuring admissibility, credibility and reliability of your ELN records in court”. In addition Simon will be presented a talk on “Lessons Learned in ELN Implementation across Different Industries”, the slides for which can be downloaded from here.
 
6th – 7th February 2008   Workshop Session/Presentation: Simon Coles gave a session at the IQPC SmartLab in London. Due to a change in some of the other sessions, Simon’s was the only one running so the audience was larger and more diverse than originally planned, resulting in a slight change of plan. The audience were given a choice between two presentations, and several people asked for both to be made available. They are ‘Differences the Make A Difference’ and ‘ELNs beyond Chemistry’.
 
30th – 31st Jan 2008   Conference: Amphora participated in the SMI ELN conference in London. As well as a number of Amphora’s customers presenting, Simon Coles chaired one of the conference days, as well as giving a presentation on ELNs and Compliance which can be downloaded from here.
 
26th – 27th Jan 2008   Workshop: Amphora and PhaseFour Informatics gave a well-received all-day workshop on ELNs at the Association for Laboratory Automation conference in Palm Springs, CA.

27th & 28th July 2007   Simon Coles and John Trigg (of PhaseFour Informatics) delivered a well-received workshop at the ALA conference in Palm Springs, CA.

Events in 2006

26 Sept., 2006   Simon Coles gave a presentation entitled “ELNs Beyond Chemistry” at the IQPC ELN conference in London, Sept. 26th 2006(download the presentation here). In addition, Cat Tarlton from Array gave a presentation on their use of PatentSafe with their CambridgeSoft ELN, and Katrien Lorre gave a talk on Innogenetic’s use of PatentSafe with their in-house ELN.
28th Feb, 2006   Simon Coles of Amphora gave a presentation on “Cutting the Cost of ELNs” at the SRI ELN conference Feb 28th 2006 in Philadelphia, PA. You can download the presentation here.
27th Feb, 2006   Simon Coles of Amphora and John Trigg from PhaseFour gave a joint workshop on “ELN Implementation – Strategies for Success” at the SRI ELN conference Feb 27th 2006 in Philadelphia, PA. Workshop materials are available to participants.
22nd Jan, 2006   Simon Coles of Amphora and John Trigg of PhaseFour gave a well-received 1-day short course on ELNs at the LabAutomation 2006 conference in Palm Springs, CA.

Events in 2005

20th October   At the IVT ELN conference in Dublin, Ireland, Simon Coles of Amphora a presentation on “Cost Effective ELNs”, a copy of which can be downloaded from here. Later that day Simon also delivered a 3.5 hour workshop on Records Management.
18th October   Simon Coles of Amphora and John Trigg from Kodak are gave a joint workshop on “ELN Implementation – Strategies for Success” at the IVT ELN conference in Dublin, Ireland.
26th-27th September   David Brittain from Oxford Biomedica spoke about their successful implementation of Amphora’s products at the IQPC ELN Conference in London.
25 – 27 July   Simon Coles from Amphora gave a workshop “Successful ELN Implementation Strategies” at the IQPC Electronic Laboratory Notebooks conference in Boston.
18 – 21 July   Simon Coles from Amphora gave a workshop “Successful ELN Implementation Strategies” at the IVT ELN Conference in Philadelphia, and a presentation on “ELN Integration Techniques”. A PDF of the presentation slides is available here.
4-5 April   Simon Coles from Amphora gave a workshop “Successful ELN Implementation Strategies” and a general presentation on "ELN Architecture" at the SRI Electronic Laboratory Notebooks conference in Boston. Simon’s ELN Architecture presentation is now available.
24th-26th January   Simon Coles from Amphora gave a workshop “Implementation strategies: Format a tailored strategy for your project rollout” at the 2005 IQPC Electronic Laboratory Notebooks conference in Atlanta.

Events in 2004

22nd – 24th September   Amphora participated in the IQPC Electronic Laboratory Notebook conference in London. Some of the talks were by Amphora’s customers, and at exhibition a number of vendors demonstrated their ELN products working with Amphora’s Patent Evidence Creation & Preservation solutions. As a last minute change, Simon Coles delivered the Keynote address to open the conference, as well as delivering a well-received workshop (with John Trigg of Kodak) on ELN Implementation.
5th May   Amphora participated in the CENSA Quarterly meeting in West Virginia. Simon Coles spoke on Amphora’s unique offerings for Patent Evidence Creation & Preservation, our experiences and successes in the Biotech market, and partnerships with other CENSA members. CENSA members can get a copy of Simon’s presentation from the CENSA members-only Teamrooms.
31st March   Simon Coles spoke on "ELN perspectives: from the multinational to the startup" at the 227th ACS National Meeting, Anaheim, CA (Download a copy of this talk)

Events in 2003

5th November   Simon Coles participated in the Laboratory Informatics Expo.
22nd-24th September   Simon Coles spoke on “Strategies to assess your corporate needs and select the most appropriate vendor for your ELN project” at the 2003 IQPC ELN conference in London. As well as chairing the second day of the full conference, Simon also gave a pre-conference workshop “Implementation Masterclass: Proven strategies to ease ELN implementation in your own company”.
26th & 27th June   Simon Coles spoke on “Electronic Laboratory Notebook Architectures: Designing Comprehensive R&D Enterprise Systems” at the Barnett conference in Philadelphia, Electronic Laboratory Notebooks: Comprehensive Strategies & Technologies for Managing Research Knowledge.
11th & 12th June   Simon Coles spoke on “Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Information Management and Electronic Records” at e-Lab 2003: The 17th International LIMS Conference in London.
10th-14th March   Simon Coles spoke on "ELNs: Turning the Promise into Reality" at Laboratory Informatics 2003, part of PITTCON 2003
26/27th February   Amphora attended the quarterly CENSA meeting in New Jersey to update CENSA members on our latest organisational developments
13th February   Simon Coles spoke on "Electronic Lab Notebooks and e-Archiving: a Timebomb?" at Infotech Pharma 2003.


Events in 2002

20th – 22nd November   Simon Coles led a workshop on "Easing the Transition from Paper to Electronic Notebooks – Strategies to Ensure Successful Culture Change" at the IQPC Laboratory Notebooks 2002 conference at The Cafe Royal, London, and also spoke on "Confounding myths: What is an ELN?"
NB: a representative from DuPont – one of Amphora’s customers – spoke about their ELN experiences at this conference.
15th October   Simon Coles delivered a talk on "What is an ELN?" at the 2nd Royal Society of Chemistry ELN conference in London, and also spoke on on "A Cultural Revolution in the Laboratory"
17th – 19th September   Amphora attended the Barnett International LIMS conference in Philadelphia and Simon Coles spoke on "Using XML to interface LIMS and ELNs".
20th August   Amphora exhibited with CENSA at the 224th ACS National Meeting in Boston.
14th – 15th August   Simon Coles spoke on “Cultural issues in ELN adoption” at the re-run of the Barnett International “Laboratory Notebooks 2002” conference in Philadelphia This was a re-run of the conference in May as the original sold out and a number of people had to be turned away.
6th June   Simon Coles attended the Knowledge Management conference in Twin Cities, Minneapolis, and spoke on “ELNs and Research Information”.
21st – 22nd May   Amphora attended the IQPC “Creating Value from Knowledge in R&D” conference in London and Simon Coles spoke on “Managing the cultural impact of Electronic Lab Notebooks”.
16th – 17th May   Amphora attended the Barnett International “Laboratory Notebooks 2002” conference in Philadelphia and Simon Coles spoke on “Addressing Cultural Issues when Adopting Electronic Laboratory Notebooks”. This conference was so successful it was repeated in Philadelphia that August.
14th – 15th May   Amphora attended the quarterly CENSA meeting.
29th April   Simon Coles spoke on “Combining technologies to offer a structured framework for innovation and creativity in the lab” at the Spring PASG Conference in Coventry.
5th – 6th March   Simon Coles spoke at the 2002 European LIMS forum on “Combining technologies to offer a structured framework for innovation and creativity in the laboratory”.

27th – 29th November   Simon Coles spoke at the November CENSA meeting in New Jersey.
10th October   Simon Coles spoke at the Royal Society of Chemistry ELN conference in London, delivering a talk on “Electronic Lab Notebooks – the State of the Art”.
10th – 11th July   Simon Coles presented at the CENSA meeting in Chicago, on Amphora’s work with XML and ELNs
10th – 11th May   Simon Coles spoke at Barnett International’s conference “Laboratory Notebooks – Paper & Electronic”; in Washington, on “Lessons from Electronic Lab Notebook implementations”.

Events in 2000

6th December   Amphora attended the CENSA meeting in Cincinnati.
15th – 16th November   Simon Coles spoke at the 3rd Annual European LIMS forum in Waltham Abbey, London. Sheila Davis of Kodak also spoke about Kodak’s use of their ELN, and John Trigg of Kodak chaired the session.
22nd – 25th October   Amphora and Accelrys presented at the Chemical Information Conference in Annecy, France.
16th – 18th May 2000  

Simon Coles spoke at the LIMS2000 – International Conference and Exposition in Atlantic City, New Jersey on the relationship between LIMS and ELNs.

A number of other talks at the conference were related to our work with ELNs:

  • Kevin Smith from LabSystems is talked on XML interfacing to LIMS, which is how we prefer to link ELN and LIMS systems (it was the project with Kodak and that got us both into XML in a serious way).
  • John Trigg from Kodak also spoke on "LIMS, Electronic Lab Notebooks and Knowledge Management"
27th & 28th March 2000   John Trigg discussed Kodak’s ELN at the Knowledge Management in R&D conference in London.
26th – 30th March 2000   With Sheila Ash of Accelrys, Simon Coles spoke at the 219th ACS National Meeting in San Francisco, California, on Integrating electronic notebook systems with traditional databases.
8th March 2000   Simon Coles discussed the Lab Notebook at the Second Annual e-Law Symposium on the 8th March in London with Richard Brockbank of Oxford Law & Computing.
7th March 2000   Simon Coles spoke on ‘Chemistry Aware Laboratory Workbook’ at the2nd Annual Electronic Records Event with Sheila Ash of Accelrys.
28th February – 3rd March 2000   John Trigg of Kodak (one of our ELN customers) spoke on the XML interface developed by Kodak, Amphora and Lab Systems for integrating Kodak’s LIMS to their ELN, at the Lab Systems European user group meeting, >Lab Systems World in Holland.
