With any notebook system, paper or electronic, the role of the Custodian is a vital one. As the person responsible for ensuring that standard operating procedures are up to date and being followed in practice, the Custodian ensures that the notebook entries are given due weight should you ever come to a patent dispute.
If your company uses PatentSafe then the Custodian’s Console can make it much easier to fulfill this role. Providing a high level overview of all the activities within the system the Console makes it easy to track the progress of experiments thought the signing process. The Console also includes a tool which can be run across the repository to check for any data corruption. This then enables any data loss to be identified promptly and corrected straight away.
