PatentPad Paper

PatentPad® is a highly specialized loose leaf security paper in conjunction with a registration process which can uniquely provide the customer with the ability to printout legally verifiable records.

Virtual Binding

Used with Amphora’s PatentSafe™ system the following components allow PatentPad® pages to be unbound and yet as legally acceptable as a traditional BLN:

Security Paper

PatentPad® paper is designed using a patented process to prevent unauthorized alteration or substitution. Customers specify the appearance including corporate logo, witness signature areas etc. which match their internal R&D process requirements. Beneath this visible paper design lies a hidden or latent image. If the page is copied or scanned this image becomes visible, immediately identify the new version as a copy.

Page Identification

Each sheet of PatentPad® paper has a pre-printed number, rather like the serial number on a banknote. In addition PatentSafe generates a unique number and barcode for each printed page. In addition to providing security this allows for cross referencing and assists records managers with document tracking and retrieval.

Registration

The SCRIP-SAFE® Registrar records and certifies the numerous details that define every PatentPad® order.

A Registry Form is generated for each PatentPad® order. This numbered document is used to record the date of production, the serial numbers of all sheets ordered and a precise description of the laboratory notebook page. The page description is much like a legal abstract.

Registry Form pages are printed on a specially secured and numbered paper to prevent imitation or alteration once it has been completed by the Registrar. Two copies of this registration are made, one for the customer and one sealed and placed in a vault by a notary.

In the event the data contained in a laboratory notebook is questioned, these matching and dated forms in the possession of the customer and SCRIP-SAFE® may be used for verification.

External Verification

Establishing an "at-arms-length" relationship between SCRIP-SAFE® and the customer is the final element of the PatentPad® process. If called upon as a "Trusted Third Party," SCRIP-SAFE® can easily verify:

1. the date the PatentPad¨ paper was manufactured,
2. the authenticity of the paper
3. the authenticity of the serial numbers.
