Amphora Research Systems

LONDON, July 25 /PRNewswire/

Frost & Sullivan presents Amphora Research Systems with the 2007 European Market Penetration Leadership Award for its unique and cost-effective electronic lab notebooks (ELNs) and patent records management that help pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to develop efficient targets for drug discovery. The company has proactively developed, manufactured and leveraged its fully-integrated systems that help key customers to enhance productivity in a more timely and efficient manner.

Amphora’s innovative product line is driven by high volume and optimal pricing. Its ELNs make routine manual tasks more efficient while minimizing administration time, co-ordinating and integrating existing tools, managing a knowledge base to boost collaboration, creating patentable records with flexibility and facilitating compliance with external and internal standards. It has also developed a suite of products to support a wide range of experimental activity for large and small R&D departments worldwide.

“The company’s OpenELN platform is a modular ELN solution that can be used standalone or integrated with other R&D systems to provide a fully automated electronic solution,” notes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Dr. Amarpreet Dhiman. “OpenELN’s biggest advantage is flexibility enhancement, which allows customers to ‘drag and drop’ specific features, bringing immediate efficiency benefits instead of overburdening the user with redundant tasks.”

Meanwhile, PatentSafe, a replacement for the paper-based laboratory notebook, provides an easy-to-use solution that allows data and write-ups from all sources (both computerized and handwritten) to be conveniently placed in an electronic repository. It optimizes the ELN solution by offering the freedom to operate with full digital signatures, and may be used in conjunction with Amphora’s PatentPad security paper, for a hybrid approach for smaller companies.

PatentPad is a documentation system comprising security paper, the appearance of which can be customized to suit end-user requirements. The paper contains a latent image that prevents copies and the release of the paper and details are recorded in the registry maintained by Amphora. This registry can be used to verify the date on which a particular PatentPad paper was manufactured as well as the authenticity of the paper and serial numbers. It helps fulfill regulatory and legislative requirements for evidence to support patent claims.

“The company has increased its market share to double digits and continues to show strong results,” notes Dr. Dhiman. “While continuous development of comprehensive and efficient products has always been part of the company’s mission, its excellence in innovation and market presence have taken it to greater heights.”

Amphora has set high standards in the process of implementing well-defined strategies to become a significant market participant. It has achieved impressive results because of its productivity gains, excellent marketing strategy, expansion, modernization, quality, technology and expertise.

Amphora has strengthened its position by seeking strategic collaborations with academia and partners within the drug discovery industry. Therefore, it can garner a wider end-user base, which will encourage pharmaceutical and biotechnology businesses to further invest in informatics products and ELN solutions.

Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in capturing market share within its industry. The recipient has demonstrated strategic excellence in product innovation, marketing and sales strategies that have resulted in the largest gain in market share over the past two to three years.
