Developers
Within most R&D organizations there are formal or informal groups who are charged with developing/assembling IT tools to support the scientist’s work. Similarly, there are a large number of specialized vendors offering tools which focus on a particular scientific activity or discipline.
Until now, the users of these tools have had to document their work in bound paper lab notebooks, which is a cause of frustration for everyone involved. With the development of Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) from vendors such as Amphora, in-house developers and specialized vendors are beginning to see demand for ELN-like functionality or integration of their offerings with an ELN.
ELNs are themselves very specialized pieces of software, and are often regarded as mission-critical. Developers don’t want to be distracted by the specific requirements and responsibilities that come with ELN solutions, and similarly customers are rarely comfortable working with someone who doesn’t have the experience or commitment to this critical area.
Unfortunately, most “ELN” solutions are pretty closed, and if you want to do something that the original developers hadn’t thought of, you are stuck.
Amphora’s approach
Amphora recognize this problem, and recognize the invaluable contribution made by specialist and in-house developers. We would like to allow them to concentrate on where they add tremendous value, and leave the ELN parts of the puzzle to us.
Amphora’s current ELN solutions are based on our years of experience in providing ELN solutions and working with fellow vendors and our customer’s in-house developers. Our solutions are modular and architected such that customers or vendors can use only the components which are needed to fill out their particular application.
Working with us
We treat our developer partners well – if we work together you’ll get direct access to the developers and architects of Amphora’s ELN solutions, without sales or marketing fluff. We’ll work with you as you need to integrate our code, or you can do it yourself – or you can come and work in our offices for a while and get “training by osmosis” (a cost effective and fun option, but you had better like pizza :-).
What we ask in return is simple – don’t waste our time. We expect to work with committed, empowered and knowledgeable people. If there are gaps in your technical skills that’s not a problem, but what we are offering is direct access to our internal development resources and code, not a fluffy marketing-based developer program where you get to spend a week in a high price hotel.
Interested?
If you think Amphora’s expertise and ELN modules might be useful to you in your project, please do get in touch. We can have an initial chat to see what scope there is to work together and would expect in-depth discussions to follow the signing of a mutual non-disclosure agreement.
